An online Costco price is useful national information. It is not automatically the shelf price at Wembley, Haydock or any other warehouse.

Why the prices can be different

Costco's online catalogue and its physical warehouses are related shopping channels, but the final price can reflect different costs and promotions. An online price may include delivery. A warehouse may have local stock conditions, a manager reduction or an ending price that is not represented on the national website.

This means a price collected from the website should never be silently labelled as a local warehouse price. CostCutTen shows national online offers to every shopper, but reserves a local label for evidence from that selected warehouse.

How a local price becomes verified

A signed-in shopper selects the warehouse and product, enters the shelf price and uploads a clear photograph of the shelf label. The photograph is stored privately for moderation; it is not published in the app.

After the report is reviewed, the price can appear for that warehouse with the observation date and an expiry date. Reports expire after seven days unless the price is checked again. This creates a smaller but more honest local dataset.

  • The warehouse must match the report.
  • The product or item number must be identifiable.
  • The shelf label must be readable.
  • Personal details, membership cards and faces should not be included.

What happens when local data is unavailable

The app falls back to the Costco UK online catalogue and says so explicitly. It does not borrow a price from a different warehouse. You can still search more than 8,500 catalogue products, review current online reductions and compare selected exact products with wider market prices.

How to use both numbers

Use the online price to shortlist products before travelling. At the warehouse, look for a recent verified local report or check the physical shelf label. If the shelf price is useful to other shoppers, submit a clear report so the next visitor has better information.
