Privacy policy
Browsing is public, location stays on your device and an account is optional.
Who is responsible
CostCutTen is operated in the United Kingdom by Anthony Jackson, who is the data controller for personal information handled by the app. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to anthony@ajsoftwaredev.org.
What works without an account
You can browse deal rankings, departments, warehouse choices and the Costco UK catalogue without signing in.
Location
Location is requested only when you choose to find your nearest warehouse. It is used on your device for that calculation and is not uploaded or stored.
Account data
If you sign in with Apple or an email link, we receive the account identifier and any name or email address you choose to share. Supabase stores this account data with your home warehouse, saved products, price reports and alert preferences so those features can work across devices.
Shelf-label photographs
A photograph is required only when you choose to report a local shelf price. Evidence is stored privately for moderation and is never displayed publicly. Do not include faces, membership cards, payment details or addresses. Deleting your account also deletes your private evidence photographs.
Notifications
Notifications are optional. If enabled, CostCutTen stores a device notification token linked to your account and uses it only for the deal alerts you selected. Turning alerts off stops those messages.
Prices and external links
CostCutTen stores product, warehouse, observed-price and retailer-comparison data. Opening a product may take you to Costco or another retailer, whose own privacy terms then apply.
Why we use this data
We use account data to provide the features you request, protect the service, moderate submitted prices and respond to support messages. Location and notification permissions are used only with your choice. Our legal bases are providing the requested service, consent where required, and our legitimate interests in operating a secure and accurate price-checking service.
Service providers
Supabase provides authentication, database and private photograph storage. Expo provides app delivery and optional push-notification infrastructure. Apple provides Sign in with Apple and App Store distribution. These providers process only the information needed to supply their service. We do not sell personal data, use it for third-party advertising or share it with Costco.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we rely on the provider's contractual and legal safeguards for international transfers.
How long data is kept
Location is not retained. A local price stops appearing as current after seven days unless it is verified again, although its private report may remain for moderation and audit. Account data, saved products, reports, evidence photographs, preferences and notification tokens are kept while the account exists. Using ‘Delete account and data’ removes the account and linked private data, except limited information that must be retained for security or legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
You can refuse location and notification permissions, turn alerts off, sign out or delete your account in the app. UK data-protection rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent. Email us to make a request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
CostCutTen is intended for adult warehouse shoppers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Security and changes
We use access controls and private storage for account information and evidence photographs. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with a new update date.
Payments
Subscriptions and payments are switched off. CostCutTen does not currently collect payment information.

CostCutTen is an independent buying guide and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Costco Wholesale.
